Fault code: EMS 5663 SCANIA

Error identification:

Incorrect or unreliable data.

Cause:

Possible causes:

• Fault in fan circuit.

• Internal fault in the EMS control unit

The fault code can be set as a result of one of the fault codes 1376, 5680-5686, 58880 or 58881 being set.

This fault code will also cause fault code 5665 to be set.

Notes:

While the fault is active, the engine control unit shuts off the fuel supply using the solenoid valves. This often results in short malfunctions or, where the fault is active over an extended period of time, the engine stopping.

Action:

1. Check the fan circuit.

2. Clear the fault code memory and run the vehicle for approx. 10 minutes. Check whether the fault code has been regenerated.

3. Renew the fan cable harness if the fault code is regenerated.

4. Renew the EMS control unit if the fault remains.
