Fault code: EMS 5383 SCANIA

Error identification:

The voltage supply to the engine control unit has been below the permitted level.

Cause:

The engine control unit has two parallel circuits for voltage supply. The voltage supply of one circuit was insufficient, which could be caused by a defective fuse or damaged cable harness.

Notes:

If the fuse of one circuit is intact, the system functions normally but a fault code is generated. If the fuses of both circuits are defective, the engine control unit does not receive any voltage and the engine shuts down.

Action:

Check the fuses for the engine control unit voltage supply. Renew fuses if necessary. If the fault persists, check the cable harness and harness-to-component connectors.
