Fault code: EMS 5381 SCANIA

Error identification:

Incorrect turbine speed or the engine has to work in a way that generates a greater turbine speed than expected.

Cause:

Possible causes:

• Charge air pressure sensor T122 is showing an incorrect value, which causes the turbine speed to be exceeded.

• Fault in turbo speed sensor T120.

• Fault in mass flow sensor T126.

• Fault in charge air temperature sensor T121 or atmospheric pressure sensor in COO E30.

Notes:

The engine power is reduced when the fault code is active.

Action:

Check whether there are any fault codes for the charge air pressure sensor T122 in the vehicle and rectify these.

Increase the engine speed and check that the rotational speed sensor T120 is showing a signal that corresponds to the engine speed.

Check the mass flow sensor T126, charge air temperature sensor T121 and atmospheric pressure sensor in COO E30.

Note:

Always carry out a default setting of the mass flow sensor adaptation values if the mass flow sensor has been renewed, or if leakage in the engine intake system has been rectified.
