Fault code: 43526 SCANIA

Error identification:

The measured level of nitrogen oxides (NOx) is higher than it should be.

The emissions are high. The vehicle is at risk of exceeding the prescribed limit values for NOx emissions. Torque reduction is not activated.

Cause:

The control unit detects that the SCR system is not reducing the nitrogen oxides correctly.

This may be because:

• The NOx values from the engine are too high.

• Poor quality reductant.

• Fault in the reductant injection nozzle.

• The catalytic converter is blocked.

• The NOx sensor is sending an incorrect value.

• Fault on the dosing module.

• Fault on main unit.

Notes:

The maximum vehicle torque is limited.

Action:

Check whether there are any other active fault codes that are related to emission levels.

Check that the reductant tank contains reductant of an approved quality.

Check that neither the reductant lines nor the injection nozzle are blocked. Crystals can be rinsed out with water.

Check that the reductant doser is not blocked. Crystals can be rinsed out with water.

Check the NOx sensor.

Check that the catalytic converter is not damaged.

Verification

There are two alternatives:

• Run Verifying rectified fault codes for NOx control. The test should be carried out outdoors because the exhaust gases become very hot and there is a risk that the vehicle exhaust extraction system will be damaged. The test takes approximately 5-30 minutes to carry out, depending on which fault codes are active.

• Test drive the vehicle with a heavy load.

If the fault is resolved, the fault code becomes inactive. Clear the fault code.

Switch the power off and on with the starter key 3 times in succession at 10 second intervals to extinguish the warning lamp.
