Fault code: EMS 43520 SCANIA

Error identification:

The quantity of nitrogen oxides measured differs from what it should be.

Cause:

The control unit detects that the SCR system is not reducing the nitrogen oxides correctly.

This may be because the catalytic converter is faulty, the NOx sensor is defective or metering of the reductant is not working properly.

The calculated NOx value is different from the measured NOx value. This may be due to excessively high or varying NOx values from the engine or because the NOx sensor is sending an incorrect value.

Action:

Check that the reductant dosage function is working properly by carrying out a system check and a metering test using SDP3.

Check the NOx sensor.

Check that the catalytic converter is not damaged.

To verify that the fault has been rectified and that the fault code does not recur, you can click on fault code monitoring and look at the fault code. This fault code is not activated immediately. In order for the control unit to set an active fault code, the fault must occur in four consecutive cycles, i.e. the power must be turned off and on four times with the starter key. You can use fault code monitoring to see whether the fault code is pending, i.e. the fault code is about to be generated.
