Fault code: EMS 42048 SCANIA

Error identification:

The pump does not raise the pressure in the SCR system within the time stipulated.

Cause:

The fault can be due to any of the following:

• The reductant tank is empty.

• The venting to the reductant tank is blocked.

• The prefilter in the tank or the main filter is blocked.

• The reductant lines are leaking or are blocked.

• The heating system in the tank is unable to thaw the reductant in cold weather.

• The reductant doser does not fully close.

• Internal fault in the main unit.

• Fault on the pressure sensor.

• The ventilating valve is stuck open.

• The prefilter on the main unit is blocked.

Notes:

The fault causes reductant injection to be switched off.

Action:

Check that the ventilation line to the reductant tank is not blocked.

To check that the suction pipe is being heated. Start the engine and check that the suction pipe is getting warm. If not, check that coolant from the engine is reaching it as it should do.

Also check that the water valve is opening fully.

If heating is taking place, check whether reductant is leaking into the suction pipe or its connections.

Carry out the system checks that are available in SDP3 for the SCR system. The system checks can help to detect some of the above faults.

To verify that the fault has been rectified and that the fault code does not recur, you can click on fault code monitoring and look at the fault code. This fault code is not activated immediately. In order for the control unit to set an active fault code, the fault must occur in four consecutive cycles, i.e. the power must be turned off and on four times with the starter key. You can use fault code monitoring to see whether the fault code is pending, i.e. the fault code is about to be generated.
