SCR – Reductant pressure

Error identification:

The pressure has been above the permitted level when starting up the system.


Cause:

The fault may be due to:

• The return hose to the reductant tank is blocked. The blockage may be inside or outside the main unit.

• The ventilating valve to the reductant tank is blocked.

• The ventilating valve gasket has expanded on account of diesel in the urea.


Notes:

The fault causes reductant injection to be switched off.

The fault affects the vehicle s emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) and the lamp which warns about a high level of contaminants comes on in the instrument cluster. A text message is also displayed in vehicles with NOx monitoring.

Vehicles with NOx monitoring

An active fault code limits the maximum engine torque by approximately 40%.

An active fault code cannot be cleared from the control unit. When the fault has been rectified, the control unit must verify that the fault has been rectified in order for the fault code to become inactive.


Action:

1. Check if there is diesel in the prefilter on the reductant tank. If this is the case, flush the main unit and renew the diaphragm pump, gaskets and ventilating valve. See instructions in Workshop Manual > 03-26 Exhaust gas aftertreatment.

2. Check whether the ventilating valve in the main unit is blocked. If it is, renew the ventilating valve. See instructions inWorkshop Manual > 03-26 Exhaust gas aftertreatment.

3. Check whether the return hose to the tank is blocked.

Verification

The SCR system must be started to verify that the fault has been rectified. Run the Verifying rectified fault codes for the SCR system wizard.

If the fault is resolved, the fault code becomes inactive. If this is the case, clear the fault code.
