Fault code: 148 SCANIA

Error identification:

The fuel pressure in the accumulator drops during engine braking even though no fuel is consumed.

Cause:

• External fuel leakage.

• Internal fuel leakage.

• Fault in the safety valve.

• Fault in the fuel inlet metering valve.

Note:

Reducing the fuel pressure can trigger the fault code. No troubleshooting is required in this case.

Action:

1. Run Safety precautions for the fuel system.

2. Check for external fuel leakage.

3. Run Fuel leak test.

4. If the engine does not start: run Plug test – checking for internal leakage using the starter motor.

5. Run Leak testing the safety valve.

6. Run Checking the fuel inlet metering valve.

7. Troubleshoot the high pressure pump in accordance with the instructions, see Workshop Manual > 03 Fuel and exhaust system assembly > 03:14-01 XPI fuel system, Troubleshooting.
