Fault code: 136 SCANIA

Error identification:

The feed pressure has been implausibly high in comparison with the nominal pressure for various operating conditions.

Cause:

The fault is probably caused by a defective overflow valve. It may also be due to a clogged fuel return.

Notes:

The fault code will only be generated if the supply pressure is above the permissible pressure for at least 7 seconds. The time limit has been set so that the fault code will not be generated in the event of a brief pressure deviation which is not caused by a fault.

If the voltage is outside the permitted range, the control unit uses a pre-programmed value.

An active fault code limits the maximum engine torque by approximately 30%. The fault may cause the engine to run unevenly and emit smoke.

Action:

Check the circuit components, harness-to-harness connectors and electrical cables.

Check the overflow valve and the fuel return.

Error identification:

Fuel pressure in the accumulator is higher than requested.

Cause:

• The fuel inlet metering valve works poorly or is leaking.

• Fault with the high pressure pump.

Notes:

There may be abnormally loud combustion noise or engine knock.

When this fault code is active, engine power is reduced and the EGR circuit is deactivated.

The fault code cannot be deleted when it is active.

Action:

1. Run Safety precautions for the fuel system.

2. Check and rectify any fault codes for fuel inlet metering valve V120.

3. Run Checking the fuel inlet metering valve.

4. Troubleshoot further according to Workshop Manual > 03-00 Fuel and exhaust systems, assembly > 03:14-01 XPI fuel system, Troubleshooting.

5. Renew the high pressure pump.
